Corduroy Love in Mauve

"I have been ogling this skirt for a while too! It disappeared and then was restocked so I pounced on it ๐Ÿพ the second time around. Very classy and classic. I am a sucker for corduroy and so rarely get a chance to wear it. It adds to my selection of clothing in a nice way. The fit is fabulous and the strings at the waist- perfect! I'm new to buying from

"I'm new to buying from Killstar, so I'm only just starting to learn their sizing. I'm 5'10" (177 cm), with a 93 cm waist and 101 cm around the tummy, so according to the size guide I should be buying a 2XL. I also saw reviews saying things like "the fabric is really stiff," "it has very little stretch," and recommending sizing up if you're between sizes. Personally, I don’t find the fabric stiff. It has enough elastane to keep the waistband structured and in shape, while still allowing some stretch around the waist. I love cotton corduroy, I have another skirt and two dresses made from it, and I find this Violet’s Ballad Midi Skirt (Mauve) to be softer than my dresses, though slightly stiffer than my current skirt. I ordered a 2XL, but it turned out to be too wide for me. The zip also doesn’t run smoothly - it keeps getting stuck where the seam and thicker part of the material meet. Since XL was sold out, I decided to try an L and also ordered another 2XL, hoping for a better zipper. The L is far too tight in the waist, and unfortunately the second 2XL also has issues with the zipper. It’s not a huge problem - not difficult enough to stop me from keeping it, but definitely a bit annoying. I have a friend who is a seamstress, and she altered the 2XL to fit me better. I wanted it to sit perfectly at the slimmest part of my waist, and this way the bottom edge falls just under my knees. The pockets are nice to have, but for me they’re not as deep as some reviews suggest. I would prefer them to be deeper. The colour is great, the volume is lovely, and it flows nicely. It definitely has a luxe feel, and the lace-up front detail is beautiful. However, the ties at the front are not functional, which is a shame, and they do tend to bend and stick out while wearing. Overall, it's a gorgeous skirt. I’m taking off one star for the hard-to-use zipper, too shallow pockets, and the non-functional front lacing."

Old Smell

"The colour is beautiful. The material keeps the dress in a really good shape. I love the belt area! In terms of size I wear XS tops from KillStar but apparently S bottoms would fit better. Only downside is its smell. This fabric has a certain kind of “old” smell. I don’t know if it goes away once I wash it."

Perfect for the show ring

"So I bought this skirt in both Mauve and black for the purpose of dog showing. The pockets are wonderfully deep where bait will not fall out while running around the ring or when bending down to adjust a dog’s foot placement. Thank you killstar for finally adding pockets!!! It flows properly snd isn’t uncomfortably. The length is perfect and to my knees! The color is the one thing I find challenging since depending on the lighting, it can look purple, black, or red. It looks wonderful with my dog who’s a red sable smooth Saluki though so I can’t complain!"
